I thought I would add this page for information that I have sent to our U.S. Congress through NRDC watch group.
When will you become responsible with your moral obligations in the promise of providing better medical services and facilities for Indian families?
Native Americans still die at a younger age and have a lower health status than others in the U.S.
There is always "No Money' to care for those with treatable diseases, and left untreated. The quality of life is always in jeopardy and yet some doctors within the IHS system cause the death of elders and suggest their family take them home because there is nothing more they will or can do. There is no care and compassion as other Americans receive. We are continued to be treated as second class citizens.
I would ask at this time that you have a commission on surprise visits to clinics like the Pawhuska, Oklahoma IHS. The care is so bad, it is almost non existent. You have a doctor there that should have been replaced years ago. Where have you been to make sure the people receive quality care and service.
We have people that are actually denied care and medicine to diabetics, heart patients, etc. But the Native American people will not complain openly due to the culture. It is way past time for attention to be made by YOU for those that depend on you for the care and welfare of Nations of People within the U.S.
Programs such as clinics, in-home health care for the elderly, long-term-care, do not exist and is available in most other U.S. communities. Yet, services for Native Americans have not been expanded. American Indians and Native Alaskans -- who often reside in the most isolated and poorest areas of the country. The accessibility to these clinics are difficult for many or most Native Americans, and getting worse by the day. As the economy has been bad for the Native Americans for hundreds of years due to your lack concern and promises being ignored for far to long, The expense of gasoline, food, transportation and daily living are so difficult for our people.
Yet, you law makers want to spend millions of our dollars for care for with food distribution to Nations outside America in order to be seen as the savior, which is arrogant, as you are suppose to leave this to GOD. When will you people learn to stop creating the problems of the world.
Perhaps America needs to be on the watch list in human suffering within the boundaries of America that you continue to ignore.
Shame on you!
