Health Committee Sept. 27, 2007

Executive Branch presentation Strategic Plan

Committee No Shows were; Anthony Shackelford, Jerri Jean Branstetter, other Congress members left prior to this meeting were; Mark Simms, Raymond Red Corn, William Supernaw, Faren Revard Anderson these Congress members showed their disrespect of the Executive Branch, the task force including Osage members, the Committee presenting and the constituents. I am and will remain embarrassed by their actions today; their actions were reprehensible and childish. This committee meeting was for the purpose of the long-range plan for all our people. This task force spent many long hours and sleepless nights working on this project for our people.

Assistant Chief John Red Eagle and the Executive Branch presented the 25 year Vision plan from the findings of the Osage people across the U.S.A. Your input is an integral part of this plan. From a Constituent living in Pawhauska I attend, as many meetings as possible, and I wanted to assure those that read this forum to know your requests are part of this 25 year plan. I have to applaud all those working on this project and the Congress members that are truly concerned and begin working on those bills that are important to the people. I.E, Congresswoman Shannon Edwards presented a bill to Congress (Monday) for Prescription benefits for all Osage people within the U.S.A. however; Congress shot it down. Those that opposed this bill were Jerri Jean Branstetter, Raymond RedCorn, Eddie RedEagle, Doug Revard, William Supernaw and Anthony Shackelford. They are more interested in changing the peoples Constitution with only a year under their belts.

Today October 1, 2007, Health and Education Meeting.
Bill No. ONCA07-52 – Prescription Drug Benefit for all Osages.

This bill requires the Executive Branch to investigate all possibilities for a drug plan for All Osage members across the country. There are NO monies appropriated and no new hires. It specifically states that a currant tribal employee be assigned to perform these tasks, however, Congressmen; Eddy Red Eagle, Anthony Shakleford, Doug Revard and Archie Mason, Congresswoman Jerri Jean Branstetter vetoed this proposal and kept it in the Congress committee for investigation.

(?)comment: Micro managing has raised it’s ugly head in the Osage Congress.

During the discussions, Congressman Red Eagle made much talk but said nothing impressive only assumptions while opposing this bill. Congressman Shakleford, mention that another tribe is working on a drug warehouse on their Reservation (?).

I asked that they approve this bill and send it on it’s way explaining that Mr. Red Eagle had made his assumptions and Mr. Shakleford mention of a drug warehouse would be cost prohibitive. Further explaining that Osages living outside Oklahoma would have to obtain a Doctors prescription outside the Oklahoma state regulations and send it in for the arduous process. Simply put it would not serve the purpose of having prescriptions availability locally to all Osage people. It would take several years for the regulations and licenses, etc. would not be a feasible source of action.

Their objections made no since especially when there is no money involved at this time, and the responsibility would be where it belongs with the Executive Branch.

WHAT WERE THEY THINKING

It is plain to me. Congresswoman Shannon Edwards did her homework and wrote the bill with Congresswoman Debra Littleton sponsoring.

Congresswoman Debra Littleton is the Chair of the Health Committees and now some are attempting to separate other Health related programs to other committees.

We are not stupid and it is way past time to let them know we are watching and do not like this outcome.

Your Congress members are grouping up to be difficult for all the Osage People. I have been waiting for this to happen and unfortunately, it has started. You have the “family history vendetta reaching out for personal and selfish reasons that burden the people” and then you have the independent thinkers that are truly interested in making laws for all the people.

Unfortunately, we the people are being short changed by our elected Congress.

We must question their priorities and the will of the people.

We have two runaway Congressmen that are using their personal feelings get in the way of good judgement and working to alienate the Executive Branch, including the peoples Chief and the Employees of the tribe.
Congressman Supernaw is the main character in stirring up dirt and dishes it out of contexts. Instead of working on the required bills from our Constitution, he spends his time contacting the Directors of the programs asking for negative information on the Chief and demanding the Directors to do his bidding. I had hoped that our new Government would stop this kind of hypocrisy. If this is our only pool for candidates of elected officials then we have a big problem for future elections. This saddens me and embarrasses me, because we cannot find visionaries to bring our Tribe to the scale of good government and accountability from our Elected Congress without their negative baggage.

I am sure there will be more of this and it is my hope we the people will stand up to this type of unstable tyranny. I would like to say we do have outstanding Congress members trying with due diligence to work on those laws that are important to the people, unfortunately they have to fight for every crumb of good government.
